Chiropractic Manipulative Therapy

Gonstead and Diversified methods are our main adjusting procedures of the spine. We also adjust extremities, including shoulders, wrists, knees and feet.

Low Force Techniques

Where non-manual manipulative protocols are more effective or desired we use SOT blocks, Thompson Drop piece or Activator Methods. Activator uses a spring loaded adjusting instrument that produces a little mechanical ‘click’ when triggered.
At times we use Toggle Recoil which is done in a side posture position and one of the oldest and most powerful correction methods performed by any chiropractor. It was a most popular method in the early days of chiropractic and helped resolve many ‘atlas’ issues

Soft Tissue Work

Often we complement our manual manipulation with soft tissue treatment of muscles and hands-on stimulation of fascia, ligaments or tendons by applying methods such Nimmo, Cross or Transverse Friction, Trigger Point Therapy or Muscle Energy Release Techniques. This enhances the effectiveness of our adjustments.

Lower Limb Gait Assessment

In addition to spinal care, one of our passions centres around the fluency of the foot and ankle biomechanics. We assess gait and lower limb alignment and function, including proprioception, to improve overall posture and postural stability.
We have access to six different types of orthotics from simple heat moulded inserts to state of the art semi-rigid sport orthotics and purely proprioceptive stimulating insoles.
In kids we successfully have used gait plates for some time to correct toe-in and toe-out walking styles caused by tibial torsion.

Active Care

Stretching, strengthening and/or rehabilitating exercises are also part of our treatments, as are proprioceptive and adaptive stimulating exercises to re-establish healthy, sustainable movement patterns and proper body tone, posture and flexibility, where indicated.

To assist in corrections we have a small selection of aids in-house such as Fit- or Medi-Balls, Oovs, Bosu (half) balls, Wobble boards, Dura Discs, and therabands.

Nutritional Support

We would be most ignorant if we didn’t pay attention to, and emphasize, healthy eating habits. In fact any truly wholistic practitioner is and should be a promoter of healthy lifestyle choices.

Aside from eating habits and food selection our interest is in specific nutrient support. It often greatly assists recovery and settling musculoskeletal, arthritic and other conditions. Two good examples of such complementary support are curcumin (the active ingredient in turmeric) and high quality omega-3 fish oils.
